# MediaINFO Digital Library > MediaINFO Digital Library is a self-hosted platform for digitised archives: newspapers, books, manuscripts, photographs, maps, audio and video. It recognises the text on scanned pages, in Latin scripts and Arabic, printed or handwritten; reads newspaper pages into their articles; and makes every word searchable. It is made by MediaINFO L.L.C (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) and installed and supported through regional distributors and certified resellers. Not related to MediaInfo, the open-source media-file analysis tool. Speed: an item of 2,350 pages has every page on screen in 2.3 seconds, a hundred times faster than the previous generation of the viewer, with a hundredth of the data (measured October 2026). https://www.mediainfo.com/news/thousands-of-pages-on-screen-in-two-seconds/ AI: MIMI (MediaINFO Machine Intelligence) is the platform's AI, in two forms: MIMI Edge, on the institution's own servers, fully offline or connected to other AI services as it chooses; and MIMI Cloud, hosted by MediaINFO. Each capability is set independently, and any of them, face recognition included, can be kept on MIMI Edge, fully offline. ${site("/discovery/#stance")} Almost every installation serves a government office, a ministry, a national library, an archive or a university. Most run on networks closed to the public, and many cannot be named. Named institutions: https://www.mediainfo.com/references/ ## Libraries anyone can open Every figure says where it comes from and when it was true: the institution, its library's public pages, or the library's own statistics. For paintings, decorative surfaces and maps we also work with the specialist makers Cruse (Germany) and Metis Systems (Italy). We advise institutions on the digitisation technology that suits each kind of material and its condition. Material already scanned, on office scanners or otherwise, and born-digital material go straight into the platform. https://www.mediainfo.com/solutions/#capture ## Pages - [Platform](https://www.mediainfo.com/platform/): what the platform does, from recognition to publishing - [Discovery](https://www.mediainfo.com/discovery/): how readers find things in it - [Solutions](https://www.mediainfo.com/solutions/): by kind of institution, and scanning with our partners - [References](https://www.mediainfo.com/references/): who it serves, and the libraries anyone can open - [Resources](https://www.mediainfo.com/resources/): documentation, standards, security, and how to read a digital library's numbers - [About](https://www.mediainfo.com/about/): the company and its regional partners - [News](https://www.mediainfo.com/news/)
